Weekend games against Yellowstone end in OT, with one win and one loss for the Bighorns

Oct 24, 2022

The Bighorns faced their hardest weekend of the season so far, heading into OT shootouts in both games this past weekend against the Yellowstone Quake.

Friday’s game was tied at 3-3 after the third period.  No teams could score in overtime, so the game went to a shootout.  Goalie Adian Wright stood strong in net for the Bighorns, not letting any of the 5 shots in the shootout get past him.  The Bighorns also had 5 shots in the shootout, but Tyler Bloom was the one to get one past Yellowstone goalie Edvin Falkenstrom.  The other 3 goals for Helena were scored by Tyler Bloom (Dylan Cunningham), Harlan Wojtusik (Garrett Bogan, Derek Rassell), and another by Harlan Wojtusik, unassisted.

Saturday’s game also stayed strong for both teams.   Yellowstone was first to put a point on the board, but Helena snuck one in the net with less that 2 minutes left in the 3rd, being scored by Harlan Wojtusik and assisted by Tyler Bloom.  Overtime again went to a shootout, but this time the Bighorns were not successful, and Yellowstone was the one to take the win with a 2-1 game ending.

The Bighorns spend the next weekend on another road trip, heading to Sheridan and facing the Sheridan Hawks on October 28th and 29th.
