Love, who hails from the great state of Texas, made the choice to stick close to home to start his college hockey career. After 3 successful seasons in Helena, which saw him increase his point totals each year, the 21 year old Love said his reasons for commiting to UCO were straightforward. "I decided to attend UCO because of their reputation as being a hard working, classy team." Love added, "It is also a huge plus as it is only a 3 hour drive from home."

In 128 regular season games, Love scored 13 times and added 41 assists, but it was what Love did without the puck that made him a force in Helena that will be remembered for some time to come. "Pat is a physical force that was intimidating to opponents," said Bighorns Head Coach, Scott Cunningham. "He was always good for a huge hit to get his team going. He was a good leader and we wish him well."

Love capped off his final year of junior in style with a Junior A National Championship, something that has already brought reflection from him. "After all the hard work we put in over the years and getting so close the last two times (at Nationals) it was a dream come true."

Bighorn President, Mike Butters, said that guys like Love are hard to come by. "We have had hundreds of players through here over the past 10 years and few have exuded the character and overall passion for the game that Pat has. His pride in all aspects of being a Bighorn showed both on and off the ice. UCO is fortunate to have him."

The Bighorns preseason schedule gets going September 15th when they play host to the 2nd Annual DJ's Automotive Cup. All 6 AWHL teams will be in attendance, along with the Glacier Nationals from Whitefish, MT. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Bighorn Ticket Hotline at 457-2817 or by logging on to www.helenabighorns.com.
