In the first, Gavrilenko opened the scoring for Helena with a goal at 5:31 with helpers from Groskops and Niskanen. Kottmeier deposited a goal at 7:50 with helpers from teammates Rieger and Groskops. Houlihan quickly followed with a goal at 8:42 with assists from his linemates, Vukasin and Vandenbos.
In the second, Parker scored a goal at 0:54. Kottmeier quickly followed with a goal at 2:07 with assists from his linemates, Seitz and Scheibel. Cross put in a goal at 18:47 with helpers from his linemates, Cline and Lindberg.
In the third, Parker answered for Great Falls with a goal at 0:32 with helpers from Vukasin and Houlihan. Fary deposited a goal at 5:22 with assists from Simpson and Goodman. Lindberg answered for Helena with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 7:55 with assists from Gavrilenko and Rieger. Cline netted a goal at 14:38 with helpers from his linemates, Cross and Scheibel. Groskops put in a goal at 16:59 with a helper from Gavrilenko.
The Bighorns’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Berglund as he stopped 23 of the 27 shots he faced. Berglund’s counterpart, Sharp, also had a big night, managing to stop 33 of 40, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Helena Bighorns’ record to (28-13-4-0).
