The Helena Bighorns are headed home for Christmas with a lot to smile about, finishing the NA3HL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota with three straight wins.
Their first game was against the Texas RoadRunners, and Helena took a 4-1 win. Goals were scored by Jason Hammett (Tim Mattingly), Camden Cunningham (unassisted), Joe Feamster (Camden Cunningham, Gavin Barr), and Finn Theriault (Camden Cunningham). Helena goalie Alex Lamont stopped 13 of the 14 shots on net.
Helena’s second game had them up against the West Bend Power, but again, Helena took the win with a 3-2 victory. Goals for Helena were credited to Ty Moore (Garrett Bogan, Joe Feamster), Jason Hammett (Joe Feamster), and Braden Cunningham (Gavin Barr). Jesse Schindel stared in net for Helena, saving 15 of the 17 shots against him.
Helena’s last game was against the Norwich Sea Captains, and Helena played the game hard, not giving the Sea Captains much of a chance, and ended the game with a 5-1 victory. Goal scorers for this game were Owen Ramsay (Cai Robinson, Ty Moore), Tim Mattingly (Kelton Chadwick, Jason Hammett), Jason Hammett (Tim Mattingly, Finn Theriault), Jack Lambert (Trey Pajera, Owen Gruener), and Tim Mattingly (unassisted). Malik Johnson was solid in net for Helena, saving 28 of the 29 shots on him.
The Bighorns are now home for the holidays but will be back on December 26th to practice and prepare for the Badlands Sabres, coming to town for back-to-back home games against Helena on December 29th and 30th.
