The 5’11”, 175lb. forward was selected as captain following the team’s first weekend of regular season play. Head Coach, Scott Cunningham says that Parkhouse has emerged as one of the leaders of the team last year and that he along with alternate captains, Bryan Fiol, Levi Blom and Alex DeWitz, will be expected to lead by example. “Ryan has established himself as a point producer in this league, but more importantly, as one of the leaders of this hockey club.”


Parkhouse finished 2nd in team scoring last season, notching 42 goals and adding 62 assists. The Rancho Cucamonga, CA native also had an impressive playoffs last year, scoring 7 times and assisting on 8 other goals in 9 games. In the 2011 National tournament, Parkhouse scored 6 times and added an assists in 5 games. In the final against ElPaso, his two goals help the Bighorns defeat the Rhinos by a 5-1 mark.


Parkhouse has 2 goals in his first 2 games as the Bighorns currently sit atop the AWHL standings with a 2-0 mark.


The Helena Bighorns home opener is this Saturday where the team will have a National Championship banner raising ceremony prior to the start of the game. In addition, the Silver Cup will be on hand.


Tickets for this Saturday’s game can be purchased via the Helena Bighorns website or at the Helena Ice Arena. The team is expecting a big crowd so fans are encouraged to purchase their seats early to avoid long lines.
