Helena vanquishes Glacier in shootout, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Helena Bighorns defeated Glacier in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams.

Helena got the win thanks to a great game by Johnny Bonta, who had one goal and two assists. Bonta scored on the power play 16:20 into the third period to make the score 3-3. The Bighorns earned a power play opportunity when Mitch Tulk was put in the box for hooking. Liam McDonough provided the assist.

In the losing effort, Glacier was paced by Marvin Simmons, who grabbed two goals. Simmons scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 3:40 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Helena. Glacier had gained a power play chance when Blake Babineau was whistled for interference. Tommy Kaddatz picked up the assist. Simmons\’ next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Glacier with 4:35 left in the third period. Kaddatz provided the assist.

Helena\’s offense rang up 54 shots on Glacier\’s net.

Helena also had goals scored by Daniel Liberko and Matt Mohar, who each put in one. In addition, Helena received assists from Rory Bock and Gavin Lubin, who each chipped in one.

The Bighorns were unable to stop Glacier from sending pucks towards the net, and Glacier eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Glacier also got a goal from Tyler Unekis as well. More assists for Glacier came via Tyler McMahon, Brandon Huntington, and Brett LeBeau, who contributed one each.

Adam Ranck recorded 37 saves for Helena. The Bighorns incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Bailey Aust made 50 saves for Glacier on 53 shots. Glacier incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
