Helena downs Billings, 6-2

Helena took home the 6-2 victory over Billings.

Helena kept Billings\’ goalie busy throughout the game, and Gage Overby made 47 saves on 53 shots.

Helena was led by Johnny Bonta, who tallied one goal and three assists. Bonta scored 9:23 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Helena. Ryan Daugherty provided the assist. Helena also got points from Jarrett Scheibel, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Cody Vanthournout, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Helena included Bryan Knesel, John Heddle, and Bradley Estrada, who scored one goal each. In addition, Helena received assists from Jack Dolan, Kyle Hayter, Riley Keays, and Tanner Mohar, who each chipped in one.

Helena was unable to stop Billings from sending pucks towards the net, and Billings eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

Billings was led by Connor Melton, who registered two goals. Melton scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 11:20 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Helena. Billings had gained a power play chance when Vanthournout was whistled for roughing. Mason Graves picked up the assist. Melton\’s next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Helena with 18:28 left in the third period. Roy Aharonovich assisted on the tally. More assists for Billings came via Zach Heiser and Dillon Steh, who contributed one each.

Adam Ranck rejected 41 shots on goal for Helena. Helena incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Billings totaled 31 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Billings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nicholas Stellmack was ejected from the game.
