Austin Brihn was superb between the pipes for the Helena Bighorns – he did not allow a single goal in a 9-0 victory over the Yellowstone Quake.

Dylan Webster had two goals and one assist to lead Helena. Webster scored the first of his two goals at 13:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Helena. Jacob Wolter picked up the assist. Webster's next tally made the score 5-0 Helena with 4:10 left in the second period.

The Bighorns forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and two majors for 62 minutes in penalty time. Helena surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bighorns put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Yellowstone to score on any of its five power plays. Helena forced Quake goalie Rocco Yapello to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots. The Bighorns surpassed their usual scoring output this season – an average of 6.5 goals per contest. The team's forwards weren't the only contributors offensively, the defensemen showcasing their scoring touch with two goals.

Helena additionally got points from Nick Okada, who had one goal and one assist, Corbin Belling, who grabbed three goals and one assist, and Ryan Webber, who finished with one goal and one assist. Helena also had goals scored by Damon Hanson and Parker Olson, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Helena were Matt Mohar, who had one and Logan Henne, who had five.

The Yellowstone penalty box was a popular destination, as the team totaled 13 minors and two majors for 56 minutes in penalty time. The Quake had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game. Yellowstone could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Yellowstone fell short of its normal offensive output tonight – averaging 2.9 goals per game. Yellowstone's offense rang up 34 shots on the Bighorns' net.

Brihn recorded 34 saves for Helena. The Bighorns registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Helena ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hanson was ejected from the game. Rocco Yapello made 41 saves for the Quake on 50 shots. For Yellowstone, Trent Carter was ejected from the game.
