Great Falls gutted out a close 3-2 win against Helena.
Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Ricards Bernhards secured the win for Great Falls with a goal in the third period.
Mitchell Ramstad was all over the ice for Great Falls, as he tallied two goals in the win. Ramstad found the back of the net 6:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Great Falls and again while 16:32 into the first to make the score 2-0 Great Falls.
Great Falls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Helena was unable to stop Great Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and Great Falls eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.
Helena\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Great Falls power plays.
Helena was helped by Gavin Lubin, who finished with one goal. Lubin scored 2:33 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Great Falls. Matt Blassic provided the assist. Ryan Daugherty also scored for Helena. In addition, Helena received assists from Bryan Knesel, Michael Ballard, and John Greer, who each chipped in one.
Jake Stephan made 28 saves for Great Falls on 30 shots. Great Falls incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Grant Martens recorded 33 saves for Helena. Helena incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
