The Helena Bighorns close out their season opening weekend with a 15-0 blowout against the Icedogs in Bozeman
Coming off a 9-2 win against the Glacier Nationals the night before, the Bighorns travelled to Bozeman Saturday night looking to close their season opening weekend with a second win. The Bighorns got on the board early with a power play goal less than two minutes into the game from Kyle Baker. Teammates Dylan Webster, Theo Campe, Matt Mohar and Danny Fazio also had goals to give the Bighorns a 6-0 lead going into the first intermission.
Dylan Webster earned his second goal of the evening on an unassisted shot just ninety-seven seconds into the second period. Teammates Jacob Wolter and Christian Axelsson added goals of their own to give the Bighorns a comfortable 9-0 lead at the end of the second.
The Bighorns completed their dominance of the Icedogs by scoring six more goals in the third period with Corbin Belling and Ben Henne each earning their first goals of the game. As the final seconds of the game ticked, Bighorns goalie Troy Turpin lead the team to a 15-0 shutout.
The Bighorns will be on the road again next weekend, travelling to Gillette to play the Wild both Friday and Saturday. The Bighorns will host the Yellowstone Quake on Friday, September 19 for their home opener. A block party will be held in the Helena Ice Arena from 5:00 to 7:30. Fans are invited to come celebrate the start of the season at the block party before cheering on the Bighorns to another winning season.
