The Bighorns opened the scoring for the evening with a power play goal from Captain Trevor Tracy just four minutes into the game. Just two and a half minutes later Missoula tied up the game with a power play goal of their own. The Maulers then took the lead four minutes later and held onto it for the remainder of the period.

The first goal of the second period didn’t come until more than fourteen minutes in when Bighorns forward Cody Blom tied up the game on a power play opportunity. The game remained tied until teammate Mike Sullivan scored with just two and a half minutes left in the period on yet another power play opportunity. Sullivan’s goal ended up being the game winning goal as neither team scored another goal over the course of the last twenty-two minutes of the game. Bighorns goalie Jett Salinas stopped thirty of the thirty-two shots he faced.
