Helena continues to stay on top after another pair of wins, this time against the Sheridan Hawks.
Both games were held in Helena at Steed Arena, and many parents and billet families attended both games in celebration of parents’ weekend.
Friday’s game ended in a 5-3 win for Helena. Bighorns goals were credited to Owen Gruener (Cai Robinson, Kelton Chadwick), Gavin Barr (Camden Cunningham, Braden Cunningham), Tim Mattingly (Mason Eggen, Finn Theriault), Cai Robinson (Jack Lambert, Owen Gruener), and Mason Eggen (Gavin Barr). Helena goalie Malik Johnson stopped 16 of the 19 shots on his net.
Saturday’s game held our annual jersey auction, with players wearing the special addition military jerseys that were auctioned off, raising a total of $8,800 for the Helena Figure Skating Club. It was a big win for the skating club, and the Bighorns also celebrated a win, ending the game with a 5-3 victory. Goals for Helena were scored by Hunter Coulombe (Garrett Bogan, Jason Hammett), Owen Gruener (Jack Lambert, Cai Robinson), Mason Eggen (Cai Robinson, Jack Lambert), and two by Camden Cunningham (Dylan Cunningham, Gavin Barr, Patrick Crooks, Mason Eggen). Jesse Schindel stood in Helena’s net, saving 24 of the 27 shots against him.
Helena will head to Great Falls twice this week, for a Wednesday evening game as well as a Friday noon game. They will then host Great Falls at home on Saturday, February 17th, at 7:05pm. There will be a $5 skate with the Bighorns following Saturday’s game, with proceeds going to the Helena Bighorns Booster Club.
