The Bighorns put a score on the board early with a Damon Hanson goal at the 3:22 mark of the first period with Logan Hawgood and Theo Campe on the assist. The Bighorns were unable to connect with the goal again and the score going into the first intermission was 1-0.
Goals were nowhere to be seen for most of the second period, until Theo Campe broke the drought scoring with a little more than four minutes left in the period. Ben Henne added another goal less than a minute after Campe’s increasing the Bighorn lead to 3-0.
In the third period, four more Helena goals added cushion to the lead. The Americans flirted with scoring on goalie Jett Salinas but never capitalizing on their six power play opportunities. Salinas ended the night with 30 saves on 30 shots, continuing his superb play in goal. Ben Henne and Hanson led the team in goals for the night each with two. Christian Axelsson contributed to the win with two assists. Theo Campe also added two assists along with the goal of his own.
