It was another busy weekend at the Helena Ice Arena, as the Helena Bighorns hosted the Great Falls Americans for back-to-back home games.
Helena’s new goalie Keaton French got his first start in net on Friday night and ended the game with a shutout and 26 saves. The Bighorns had a total of 8 goals, scored by Cade Holland (Tyler Alldredge, Lyndon Orr), Dylan Cunningham (Darby McCarthy, Zach Turner), Tyler Bloom (Harlan Wojtusik, Joe Feamster), Tyler Bloom (Joe Feamster, Camden Cunningham), Tyler Alldredge (TJ Norris, Mason Eggen), Thomas Hollon (Tyler Alldredge, TJ Norris), Mason Eggen (Zach Turner, Cade Holland), and Harlan Wojtusik (Zach Turner, Padraic Whited).
Saturday’s game was a sold-out crowd, with just under 2,000 fans in the building. The game ended in a 5-0 win for Helena, and a shutout for goalie Jesse Schindel, saving all 32 shots on net against him. Goals for Helena were scored by Padraic Whited (Lyndon Orr, Mason Eggen), Garrett Bogan (Ty Moore, Andrew Deskin), TJ Norris (Padraic Whited, Derek Rassell), Harlan Wojtusik (Mason Eggen), and Tyler Bloom (Garrett Bogan, Camden Cunningham).
The Bighorns will take the next weekend off while coach Scott Cunningham heads to Pittsburgh, PA to assist Gillette coach Ethan Hayes in coaching the Frontier Division team for the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament. Those games will be held on February 6th and 7th and will be live streamed on Hockey TV.
The Bighorns next games will be at home again against the Yellowstone Quake in back-to-back games on February 10th and 11th. February 10th is 80’s-night, dress in your best 80’s outfits for a chance to win some great prizes, with fun 80’s music being played all night! Saturday is our annual jersey auction, where we will be auctioning off special edition jerseys that the players will be wearing during the game. Doors open at 6:00pm, the puck drops at 7:05pm.
