Bighorns Gearing Up For NORPAC Showcase

Bighorns to Face Generals, Titans and Jaguars in Showcase

Helena, MT

The Helena Bighorns (28-3) will face the Pacific Division second place Eugene Generals (25-3), third place Tri-City Titans (1-30) and fifth place River City Jaguars (20-10) this week in the first ever NORPAC Showcase held in Billings. This will be the first time the Bighorns will face a team from the Pacific Division in regular season play since the 2005-2006 season when the league last had crossover games.

“I’m really looking forward to the Showcase,” Bighorns Head Coach Scott Cunningham stated. “The Showcase is great for the league and more importantly for the players. It will allow both divisions to face each other and see how each compares, and it also makes it more accessible for the players to be seen by scouts. I know our players are as excited about that as they are about facing new opponents”

The last team the Bighorns faced from the Pacific Division is the Seattle Totems. The Bighorns beat the Totems in the last two Cascaded Cup Championships (2007-2008 and 2008-2009). During those Championship runs the Bighorns amassed a 6-1 record over the Pacific Division.

The Bighorns start off the showcase January 7th against Eugene at 2:30pm in the Metra Arena in Billings. It will be the first time that these teams have faced off against each other since the Bighorns beat the Generals in the 2005-2006 Cascade Cup Championships in the deciding game 5. The Bighorns also faced the River City Jaguars and the Tri-City Titans during that season. Helena squared-off against both teams once during regular season crossover games and came out victorious in both affairs.

The showcase will continue for the Bighorns on the 8th when they will play the Titans at 6:30pm and their final showcase action will be on the 9th at 9:30am against the Jaguars, both games will be at Centennial Arena. All three of the Bighorns’ games as well as all other showcase games will be broadcast via the internet. You can find a link to the broadcasts on the NORPAC website.
