Bighorns come out with 2 big wins in Gillette weekend series

The Helena Bighorns made quite the comeback this weekend, defeating the Gillette Wild both games and taking back the first place seed in the Frontier Division.

Friday’s game came to a close end, but the Bighorns pulled through with a one goal lead and ending the game in a 4-3 win.  Eric Buchholz saved 45 of the 48 shots on net.  Goals scored by the Bighorns were Tyler Bloom (Adam Harvey, Tyler Alldredge), Corbin Skinner (Nick Cofer, Branwen Pollett), TJ Norris (Jonny Peterson, Harlan Wojtusik), and Adam Harvey (Erik Gibboney, Gavyn Galloway).

Saturday’s game was hard fought, and both teams applied the pressure to take it all the way into an overtime game, but the Bighorns fought until the end putting the puck in net for the overtime win.  Goals were scored by Gavyn Galloway (no assist), Adam Harvey (Taber Gutschick, Tyler Bloom), and the game winning OT goal was scored by Gavyn Galloway, unassisted.  Eric Buchholz held strong in net, with 47 saves out of the 49 shots on net.

Our next game will be at home on Friday, February 11th against the Bozeman Icedogs.  The Bighorns will be wearing their special Valentine’s Day jerseys, which will be auctioned off that night.  The auction is live now, you can place your bid until Friday, February 11th at 8:30pm.  Proceeds from our auction will go to the Helena Figure Skating Club.
