Join the Bighorns this season as they celebrate ten years of fast, fun family entertainment in Helena.
This September, when the puck drops at Helena Ice Arena for the start of hockey season, the Helena Bighorns celebrate their 10th Anniversary. The hockey club was formed in August of 2001 and have enjoyed a decade of success in that time. With five NORPAC Championships in the past six seasons and a steady stream of supporters in tow, the Bighorns look to make the 2010-2011 season their best one to date.
“Our plan is to complement our on ice success by adding some new in-game entertainment while keeping some of our favorite events and promotions,”
said Bighorns’ Assistant GM, Kevin Schwartz. “It is important to us that our events are fresh and innovative throughout the entire season. We strive to insure our supporters are always treated to top-knotch entertainment.”
The Bighorns lifeline began when Hollywood film personalities and former pro hockey players, Oren Koules and Mike Butters purchased the dormant Helena Gold Rush membership in the America West Hockey League along with the Queen City Ice Palace in 2001. When it came to choosing a name the pair decided to let the community name the team in a contest and the “Bighorns name was the overwhelming favorite.
