The Bighorns will host each AWHL team at least 3 times and at most 4 times during the regular season. The schedule also features a new team as well as one from the Bighorns’ past. The Glacier Nationals (Norpac) will play 20 games in the AWHL this season and The Yellowstone Quake are making their move the AWHL after spending last season out west.
“Having Glacier play against us this season really helps them out, travel-wise, and gives our supporters more variety in our home schedule,” said Butters. “We have very good parity in the league and it should be a fun schedule for our supporters.”
The defending Lewis & Clark Cup defending champion Bighorns spend their first two weeks on the road before the Home Opener, which is scheduled for October 19th. There will be a banner raising ceremony as well as a “Street Party” outside the Helena Ice Arena, said Butters.
The Bighorns play at total of 15 Fridays, 6 Saturdays, 2 Thursdays and a special Sunday game the week following the Super Bowl.
“We have never tried a Sunday afternoon game, so we are excited to have a matinee for our supporters,” said Butters. “The 1:00 PM start is unique and we expect a huge family turnout for that game.”
