The evening kicked off with an awards ceremony honoring the players who made the AWHL All-Star teams and the players who won league awards. From there the Bighorns got down to business. The first goal of the evening didn’t come until almost sixteen minutes into the game when forward Drew Ingram scored a shot-handed goal.

Wyatt Winfield scored what was to be the game winning goal nine minutes into the second period to give the Bighorns a 2-0 lead. A minute later Billings got in the board with a power play goal to close the Bighorns’ lead to one. The second period ended without another goal and it looked to by anyone game.

The Bighorns came out on fire in the third period with Alex DeWitz scoring just a minute in. Two minutes later teammate Ben Henne scored a goal two minutes later to help open the lead to 4-1. Captain Trevor Tracy scored the final goal of the evening ten minutes in to the period to have the Bighorns a 5-1 win over the Bulls.

The Bighorns will travel to Billings tomorrow evening to face the Bulls in game two. Puck drops at 7:30 PM and fans not making the trip to Billings can catch all of the action on AWHL TV. The Bighorns will return home on Friday to host the Bulls in game three for Pizza Hut Night. One lucky fan will win a year’s supply of pizza from Pizza Hut.
