Helena’s last home game of the regular season was to a packed and sold-out crowd just shy of 2,000 people.
With Bozeman fighting for the last playoff spot, an intense and close game was to be expected; and it was. The game ended in a 4-4 tie, and Steed Arena had every sold-out seat filled with anticipation for overtime. With just 8 seconds left in OT, Marcus Fritel skated down and put a quick one past Bozeman’s goalie, giving Helena the win.
Goals for Helena were scored by Marcus Ray (Austin Uecker, G’bari Mayers), Ty Schell (Clint Isakson, Brandon Mcilhany), Owen Gruener (Austin Uecker, Caden Feinstein), and the game winner by Marcus Fritel. Bighorn’s goalie Tyler Miller stopped 28 of the 32 shots on his net.
Helena is headed to Bozeman today for another fight against the Icedogs, and the last game of the regular season before playoffs begin.
