Cody Brewer came up big, stopping 46 of 47 shots throughout the game. The Helena Bighorns took the lead late in the second on a goal from Hayden Seitz.
Hayden Seitz delivered for his team with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) and Jarett Scheibel chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
In the first period, Scoggins opened the scoring for Gillette with a goal at 7:45 with helpers from teammates Oberg and Mitzel. Rieger answered for Helena with a goal at 17:56 with a helper from Seitz.
In the second, Seitz put in what turned out to be the game winning goal at 18:20 with assists from his linemates, Cross and Scheibel.
In the third period, Scheibel netted a goal at 12:37 with an assist from Seitz.
The Bighorns’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Brewer’s big night as he stopped 46 of the 47 shots he faced. Brewer’s counterpart, Grogan, also had a big night, managing to stop 27 of 30, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Helena Bighorns’ record to (25-11-3-0).
