The Bighorns defeat the Americans 5-3

The Helena Bighorns' offense had a big night, peppering the Great Falls Americans with 47 shots throughout the game. The Helena Bighorns took the lead before the halfway point in the second on a goal from Gavin Cline.

Luc Cross delivered for his team with 2 goals and Gavin Cline chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

During the first period, Dietz opened the scoring for Helena with a goal at 1:34 with helpers from teammates Cline and Lindberg. Janke quickly followed with a goal at 3:11. Cross quickly followed with a goal at 5:02 with an assist from fellow Bighorns forward Gavrilenko.

In the second period, Juliussen answered for Great Falls with a goal at 7:39 with a helper from his linemate Mcsharry. Scheibel answered for Helena with a goal at 11:50 with assists from Seitz and Rieger. Cline quickly followed with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 12:16 with helpers from Noel and Rieger.

During the third, Goodman answered for the Americans with a goal at 1:52 with assists from Cowden and Vandenbos. Cross answered for Helena with a goal at 17:07 with helpers from Groskops and Niskanen.

The Bighorns’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Battaglia’s big night as he stopped 42 of the 45 shots he faced. Battaglia’s counterpart, Willy, also had a big night, managing to stop 42 of 47, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Helena Bighorns’ record to (16-7-1-0).
