The American West Hockey League is proud to announce the 2012 League Awards

Most Valuable Player: Ryan Parkhouse – Helena Bighorns

Parkhouse only played 25 games in the 2011-2012 season before he received a season ending injury in late December. In those 25 games, “Parky” racked up 27 goals and 29 assists for an incredible 56 points. Parkhouse finished 7th in overall scoring playing only half of the season. In 1.5 years with the Bighorns, he accrued 160 points in 72 regular season games. One could only imagine what the numbers would be if he had the opportunity to play the entire season.

Best Goaltender: Jett Salinas – Helena Bighorns

Jett played in 21 games for the Bighorns this year, winning 17 and losing 4 and had a lead leading GAA of 1.63. In addition, he accrued a league tying 4 shut-outs and a league best 93.6% save percentage. For his efforts, Jett was also brought up to the Wenatchee Wild for a couple of weeks to get the opportunity to see what is in store for him at the next level.
