Late goal helps the Bighorns defeat the Icedogs 5-4

Richard Groskops scored the game winning goal late in the game as the Helena Bighorns defeat the the Bozeman Icedogs 5-4 in a home game at Haynes Pavilion in Helena. In addition, the Helena Bighorns' offense had a big night, peppering Bozeman with 80 shots throughout the game.

Kaden Lindberg chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Gavin Cline did his part, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist). Cade Hanley delivered for his team with 3 assists and Tyler Balcerak contributed with 2 assists.

During the first period, Lindberg opened the scoring for the Bighorns with a goal at 7:16 with a helper from defenseman Kipper. Huntley quickly followed with a goal at 9:05 with helpers from his teammates Balcerak and Hanley.

In the second, Schumacher deposited a goal at 3:56 with assists from Balcerak and Hanley. Patten scored a goal at 12:08 with helpers from Hanley and Charnholm.

In the third period, Dietz answered for Helena with a goal at 4:22 with an assist from his defensive partner, Rieger. Cline quickly followed with a goal at 4:50. Kottmeier deposited a goal at 6:55 with helpers from Dietz and Lindberg. Boje quickly followed with a goal at 8:14 with an assist from defenseman Davis. Groskops answered for the Bighorns with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 19:01 with a helper from Cline.

Helena’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Berglund as he stopped 22 of the 26 shots he faced. Berglund’s counterpart, Thompson, also had a big night, managing to stop 75 of 80, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Helena Bighorns’ record to (22-9-3-0).
