Helena downs Yellowstone, 3-0

Theo Campe registered one point to lead the Helena Bighorns to a 3-0 victory over the Yellowstone Quake.

Helena forced Yellowstone\’s netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 42 shots and forcing 39 saves. Rocco Yapello made 13 stops and Sean Leahy made 16. The Bighorns excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Others who scored for Helena included Nick Okada and Brandt Miller, who scored one goal each. In addition, Helena received assists from Brian Skillicorn, who had one.

The Quake did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Yellowstone puts an average of 2.3 pucks into the net per game. The Quake found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere 14 shots against Helena\’s defense. Yellowstone struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 66 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

Austin Brihn rejected 14 shots on goal for the Bighorns. Helena incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
