Great Falls beats Helena 1-0 as Hauser gains shutout

Evan Hauser recorded a shutout against the Helena Bighorns as the Great Falls Americans picked up a 1-0 win.

Dylan Garton\’s game-winning tally was the game\’s only goal. It came at 19:59 in the second period. Adam Apangalook provided the assist.

Great Falls was led by Garton, who had one goal.

The Americans put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Helena to score on any of its four power plays. Great Falls could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Americans put an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. The Bighorns were unable to stop Great Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and the Americans eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Other players who recorded assists for Great Falls were Robert Kalata, who had one.

Helena excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Bighorns\’ offense operated below their season average. Helena averages 5.6 goals per game. The Bighorns kept Great Falls\’ goalie busy throughout the game, and Hauser made 43 saves on 43 shots. Helena could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Americans incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Grant Martens made 30 saves for the Bighorns on 31 shots.
