Cline's hat trick helped the Bighorns crush the Wild 7-1

Gavin Cline led the way with a hat trick as the Helena Bighorns crushed the Gillette Wild 7-1 in a home game at Helena Ice Arena in Helena. Hayden Seitz also had a big night with 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists). As well, Cody Brewer came up big, stopping 30 of 31 shots throughout the game. The Helena Bighorns took the lead late in the first on a goal from Luc Cross and never looked back.

Ben Kottmeier delivered for his team with 2 goals and Valary Dietz contributed with 2 assists.

In the first, Kottmeier opened the scoring for the Bighorns with a goal at 0:28 with helpers from teammates Rieger and Seitz. Cross deposited what turned out to be the game winning goal at 18:49 with an assist from defenseman Dietz.

In the second, Cline netted a goal at 4:39. Mitzel quickly followed with a goal at 4:53 with helpers from his linemates, Oberg and Stockert. Cline quickly followed with a goal at 6:22 with an assist from fellow Bighorns forward Seitz. Seitz scored a goal at 11:26 with a helper from defenseman Groskops. Cline deposited a goal at 18:37 with an assist from defenseman Dietz.

During the third period, Kottmeier netted a goal at 7:38 with helpers from his linemates, Seitz and Scheibel.

Helena’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Brewer’s big night as he stopped 30 of the 31 shots he faced. Brewer’s counterpart, Lachance, also had a big night, managing to stop 17 of 21, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Helena Bighorns’ record to (15-7-1-0).
