Cline's hat trick helped the Bighorns crush the Icedogs 8-2

Gavin Cline led the way with a hat trick as the Helena Bighorns crushed the Bozeman Icedogs 8-2 in a home game at Helena Ice Arena in Helena. As well, the Helena Bighorns' offense had a big night, peppering Bozeman with 63 shots throughout the game. The Helena Bighorns took the lead before the halfway point in the second on a goal from Luc Cross.

Dane Rieger delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Richard Groskops chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

During the first period, Boje opened the scoring for the Icedogs with a goal at 10:27 with helpers from his linemates, Stokes and Charnholm. Kottmeier answered for Helena with a goal at 15:57 with helpers from Dietz and Scheibel.

In the second, Niskanen put in a goal at 2:29 with an assist from Cross. Cross deposited what turned out to be the game winning goal at 13:41 with a helper from defenseman Mitchell.

In the third, Cline netted a goal at 0:49 with assists from teammates Smith and Sietz. Cline scored a goal at 10:48 with helpers from Groskops and Sietz. Cline put in a goal at 13:35 with assists from Kottmeier and Rieger. Groskops deposited a goal at 15:36 with helpers from Sietz and Scheibel. Rieger quickly followed with a goal at 15:53 with assists from Kipper and Kottmeier. Onstott answered for the Icedogs with a goal at 18:35 with a helper from his linemate Cook.

The Bighorns’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Berglund’s big night as he stopped 26 of the 28 shots he faced. Berglund’s counterpart, Engen, also had a big night, managing to stop 52 of 60, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Helena Bighorns’ record to (10-2-0-0).
