Austin Brihn stood on his head and made 29 saves to lead the Helena Bighorns to a 6-1 victory over the Great Falls Americans.
Corbin Belling had a great game for Helena, netting two goals. Belling scored at 16:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Helena and again while on the power play 5:22 into the third to make the score 4-1 Helena.
Helena additionally got points from Parker Olson, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Logan Henne, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Helena included Damon Hanson and Austin Loes, who scored one goal each. More assists for Helena came via Austin Buckholtz, who had one, John Petersson, who had three, and Theo Campe and Nick Okada, who each chipped in two.
Great Falls was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. The Americans had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. Great Falls did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Americans put an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. Great Falls was led by Cody Page, who scored the team\’s only goal. Page scored on the power play 3:40 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Helena. The Americans had gotten the advantage when Helena\’s Ryan Webber was sent off for slashing. Dylan Garton picked up the assist.
The Bighorns totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 3-for-8 on the power play. Great Falls registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
