BIGHORNS’ SHUT-OUT PUTS TEAM BACK IN FIRST PLACE IN AWHL

The Bighorns welcomed Carroll College fans of all ages for Carroll College Hockey Night Thursday night. Despite thirteen shots on goal during the first period, the Bighorns were only able to come up with one goal when forward Mike Sullivan scored seventeen minutes into the period. The Bighorns defense did a great job protesting the net, allowing Bozeman just one shot on goal in twenty minutes of play.

The second period started much the same as the first, Helena not scoring until almost twelve minutes into the period when defenseman Balazs Goz scored his fifth goal of the season. Fellow defenseman Logan Hawgood scored five minutes later to earn his second goal of the season.

The Bighorns began the third period with a 3-0 lead but quickly made it 4-&-0 with a goal by Trevor Tracy ninety-three seconds in. A few minutes later, Theo Campe widened the lead to 5-0. Wyatt Winfield got the game ending goal ten minutes into the period. Neither team was able to score again and the Bighorns won with goalie Trey Flesch posting a 7-0 shut-out.

The Bighorns will return to home ice once more tomorrow night to host the Gillette Wild for Army National Guard Night. The Bighorns invite all past, present and future National Guard members to attend the game.
