In what will be their first meeting of the regular season, the Helena Bighorns and Bozeman Icedogs are set to play in a home & home series this weekend. The Icedogs have been off to a rough start with a win percentage of .500. The Wild have beaten Great Falls, split with Gillette, and have lost to Missoula and Billings. The Bighorns, on the other hand, are an undefeated 8-0 winning games against Missoula, Great Falls, Billings, and Gillette.
The Bighorns will also be celebrating Crosstown Hockey Night. In preparation for the crosstown football game Saturday, the Bighorns will be kicking the weekend off hosting Bruins and Bengals alike Friday evening at the Helena Ice Arena. Both area high schools are currently ranked #1 and #2 in the state and the Bighorns will be celebrating the age-old rivalry with crosstown competitions, special student-discounted tickets, and other fun games.
The Bighorns have designated team sections as Helena High has reserved Section F while Capital High has reserved Section G. Fans are encouraged to wear their Helena and Capital High gear to the hockey game. Fun events for the evening include rivalries such as a cross town pie eating and most students contest, a mascot dance-off, and loudest section.
Available for the night are specially priced student tickets for only $5 with a valid student ID card. Posters will be on display at Helena High and Capital High, as well as the Helena Ice Arena, Helena Middle School and CR Anderson with information; students of all ages are encouraged to attend.
