Coming off a 7-4 win the night before against the Americans, the Bighorns, travelled to Great Falls to face the Americans once more. The Bighorns’ newest addition, Ryan Brown, earned the first goal of the evening almost sixteen minutes into the period. A roughing penalty by Great Fall’s Corey Schafer gave Helena’s Mike Sullivan the opportunity to score another goal for the Bighorns and give the team a 2-0 lead going into the first intermission.
Another penalty by Great Fall’s Schafer early in the second period gave Helena’s Bryan Fiol the chance to earn his first goal of the evening. Another scoring opportunity didn’t come until almost fifteen minutes into the period. Helena’s Wyatt Winfield gave the Bighorns a 4-0 lead off a pass from Mason Wade and Brian Skillicorn. About a minute later, Great Falls made it on the board with a goal by Sawyer Jacobson.
Going into the third period, the Bighorns led, 4-1. A roughing penalty by Great Falls’ Eric Swahn halfway through the period provided Helena’s Damon Hanson the opportunity to score the Bighorns’ third power play goal of the evening. Neither team was able to score again, when the final buzzer sounded, the Bighorns won the game 5-1.
The Bighorns will be home again on Saturday, November 19 where they will be hosting the Missoula Maulers. The Bighorns will be working with Helena Food Share to collect food at Saturday’s game.
