Bighorns End Camp with Blue and White Game

The Blue and White Game was the highlight of the Bighorns Main Camp and the players did not disappoint. The game was, by far, the fastest paced most exciting session during the four day period. Plenty of physical play on both ends added to the thrill. Not only was the game fast and physical; fans were treated to an evenly matched game that went down to the wire.

The first period was a defensive battle that ended with no score. The blue team went up early in the second period enroute to an eventual 4-1 lead. The white team had difficulty staying out of the penalty box which led to a couple of powerplay goals for the blue team. The white team would not go down easily though as they battled back to tie the game in the third period. With the score 4-4 at the end of regulation, the Coaching staff decided a 4 on 4 overtime would decide the game. A little over two minutes into overtime, Helena native Wyatt Winfield ended the game with goal for the blue team on an assist from Daniel Poulin out of Winnipeg, MB.

Notable performances included 2 point games for would be rookie, Fraiser Haber from Redondo Beach, CA and veteran Michael Sullivan for the blue team. For the white team, Bighorns veteran Patrick Love tallied two goals along with a two point game from Tom Lee out of Hinsdale, IL.

In the end, Head Coach, Scott Cunningham selected 26 players who will remain in Helena through preseason play and continue to fight for a full-time spot on the roster. The team will now have two full weeks of practice before being tested against the Seattle Totems in preseason exhibition on September 10th and 11th.
