BIGHORNS COME UP WITH AN EXCITING OVERTIME WIN IN GAME TWO

Excitement filled the Helena Ice Arena as fans looked forward to an exciting game between the Helena Bighorns and the Missoula Maulers. Alex DeWitz came up with the first goal of the evening halfway through the first period to give the Bighorns a 1-0 lead. The second goal of the evening came fourteen minutes into the second period from Bighorns forward Hagen Nemzek. The Maulers cut the Bighorns’ lead in half just a minute later and the teams went into the second intermission with the Bighorns ahead 2-1.

The Bighorns held onto the lead throughout most of the third period until the Maulers tied up the score with just twenty-one seconds left in the game. Neither team scored again in regulation and the game went into sudden-death overtime. After several close saves by both the Missoula and the Helena goalies, Bighorns' forward Drew Ingram scored the game winning goal. The evening’s win gave the Bighorns a 2-0 lead in the series.

The Bighorns will be hitting the ice again next weekend for games three and four of the AWHL Championship series. The team will travel to Missoula on Friday for Game Three and then return to Helena to host the Maulers for Game Four.
