BIGHORNS ALUM PETRUZZELLI SELECTED 25TH IN USHL DRAFT

HELENA, MT – Former Helena Bighorns standout, Anthony Petruzzelli, was selected 25th overall in the 2013 USHL draft, Bighorns’ President, Mike Butters announced today.

Petruzzelli played for the Bighorns during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons. During that time, the Federal Way, WA native won the AWHL Rookie of Year Award, amassing 101 points during the 2010-11 season. He was a part of the Bighorns 2011 National Championship team.

Petruzzelli has played the last two seasons for the Brooks Bandits in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He was the recipient of the AJHL Rookie of the Year award in 2011-12. He and the rest of the Bandits will compete for the Royal Bank Cup, symbolic of the Canadian Tier II Junior A Champion.

Petruzzelli has his sights set on the University of Vermont next season as that school has a letter of intent out to the ’93 forward

“We are extremely proud of Anthony and his accomplishments,” said Butters. “Anthony is a player who has all of the attributes to further his career. His draft selection only adds to his long list of achievements.”

The Bighorns coaching staff is out recruiting for the defense of the Lewis & Clark Cup. According to Coach Cunningham, there should be a number of player signings to announce soon.
